the Gnidzaz film library

The Gnidzaz Film library presents a collection of works about cinema.

From the 1910s, Martigues became a film location. In 2007 Prosper Gnidzaz, a film enthusiast, offered the municipality his collection of 3,000 reels and 80 projection devices, the oldest of which date from 1880.

Inaugurated on May 21, 2011 in an old renovated chapel dating from the 17th century, the Cinémathèque Gnidzaz invites you to discover the technical developments in cinema, from the first animated images to the present day.

Its main mission is the conservation and promotion of cinematographic heritage. It is a place of diffusion, animation and image education.

Do you have films on film reels, amateur or professional? Contact the Cinémathèque de Martigues.
